Join the Fast and Furious Cast On Set

Fast and Furious 8 Movie

After the death of Paul Walker, his daughter Meadow Walker started The Paul Walker Foundation which helps promote ocean and marine-related causes. Paul Walker was heavily invested in marine studies, so his foundation will support youths with marine-relate programs and scholarships to students studying marine sciences.

The Paul Walker Foundation is partnering with Omaze, a fundraising website, where people interested in the charity can also spend money to purchase raffle entries which puts them in the pool to a top prize where the winner will be flown to Atlanta, put up in a hotel, and taken to the set of the latest film to meet the cast.

Fast 8 Adds Helen Mirren to the Cast

As if the cast of the latest movie to come from the Fast and Furious franchise isn’t already star packed, the franchise now welcomes Dame Hellen Mirren to the family. Some may thing, how does an actor who played Queen Elizabeth II fit in to this genre of movie? Well, lets not forget Mirren has also played some bad ass roles in movies such as Red and Eye in the Sky, so action scenes are nothing new to the Dame.

According to Mirren who said back in 2014, “I’ve always rather loved driving. I said, ‘I’ll be in it, but only if I’m allowed to drive if I do drive in it.” She goes on to say, “I always love stunt driving. I do as much driving on my movies as I can. If there’s driving stuff to be done, I always beg or insist on doing it myself.”

Mirren is not only a fan of the franchise, but she’s a fan of Vin Diesel as well and would love to work with him. Well, it looks like her wish is granted. The eighth iteration of the Fast and Furious movies is shaping up to be another exiting movie to come.

With Cuban nation welcoming the US crew to shoot the lucrative Fast 8 movie in their country, it is going to be very exciting to be exposed to a country where we typically don’t see much of.

Mr. Nice Guy himself Vin Diesel was seen taking time between and after shoots mingling and embracing his Cuban fans. The old crew will all be joining in on the new Fast 8 movie, so be prepared to see more screen time by Michelle Rodriguez, Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Lucas Black, Kurt Russell, and Jason Statham. We have heard that even Eva Mendes will be making a reappearance in the new franchise movie.

Now, he releases another movie poster showing Toretto and his 1970’s Dodge Charger R/T and in big caption “New Roads Ahead”, likely signifying the closing of the last chapter with the departing story line of the late Paul Walker, and a journey into the new life ahead.

Fast and Furious Datsun 240Z

An old Datsun 240Z isn’t the typical platform one chooses to build a high powered performance car. But then again, this is no ordinary build and this is no ordinary builder. Actor Sung Kang, better known as Han from the Fast and Furious franchise, brought together an A team to help him realize his dream build. What you see before you is a restomodded 1973 Datsun 240Z called the Fugu Z.

The initial project was to build a track car with the 240Z platform. The 240Z has a rich racing vintage as well as the Datsun name. Now with most project, a plan is put in place, but that generally changes direction very quickly as the brain juices start flowing and the imagination goes wild. The end product of the 240Z integrates many of the original design elements of the car paying homage its roots, but also resurrecting it and giving it a new life with tonnes of modern day technology. The car is now widebody, the interior completely stripped only keeping the key essentials for function. The powerplant is from a Nissan Skyline, but both turbos have been stripped off making it a naturally aspirated RB26 and tuned to produce 233-245hp.

This 240Z has been given a new life and is now breathing fire. With a few more tweaks, its going to be track ready.

The Fast and the Furious Jetta Goes Up for Auction

Fast it is not, but furious…maybe. One look at this Jetta and you can easily put a date stamp on it simply by its visual prescience. This Jetta may look familiar to you as it was featured as one of the main vehicles in the long standing and very lucrative franchise The Fast and the Furious.

This Jetta is a MK4 which uses a 2.0L engine and a four-speed automatic transmission. It packs a walloping 115hp stock. There are some engine bolt on in the form of an air intake, headers and a few other small bits. Those surely will add negligible horsepower to the 2.0L powerplant. But this car isn’t about power or looks. Its about what it stands for.

This Jetta exemplifies the aftermarket modifying scene of the early 2000’s. Although not that long ago, the modifying scene has definitely evolved very quickly over the last 16 years. This car also stands for a time when mainstream aftermarket modifications were coming to the forefront and become a multi-billion-dollar industry. The movie franchise, The Fast and the Furious, took what we knew as a subculture and plastered it onto the big screen catapulting a subculture into the big leagues.

The Jetta is currently owned by Frankie Muniz from the TV show “Malcom in the Middle”. The car is also signed by director Rob Cohen and late star Paul Walker. This car will likely continue to trade in the hands of movie memorabilia fans.

Fast and Furious 9 and 10

Last month Vin Diesel teased fans with a poster of Fast 8 which had the Empire State Building in its backdrop. Little more is know about the new film other than it will be directed by Straight Outta Compton director F. Gary Gray, and we can’t freaking wait for the next movie to drop on April 14, 2017! The Fast and Furious franchise seems to have the Midas touch to everything it makes. So much so Diesel tease fans further by confirming dates for a 9th and 10th installment.

The latter two films for the franchise will be hitting theatres on April 19, 2019 and April 2, 2021 respectively. No other information about the films have been released, especially details about the cast. What we can expect from any Fast and Furious movies is action packed sequences, ridiculous car chase scenes that don’t make any sense but are both entertaining and exhilarating to watch, and Dom bringing along his family to rid the world of another crime lord.
