This is a Ford? Sign me up!
October 29th, 2008My previous blog post showcased Ford’s upcoming line-up of vehicles it is bringing to North America. There was no doubt we were left wanting more performance and wow factor from Ford.
Today, I bring you the Ford vehicles that would satisfy that need. Unfortunately for us, these vehicles will never see the light of day in North America. This line up comes from Ford Australia and is known as the “FPV” division (Ford Performance Vehicle).
The Ford Super Pursuit would have been a better truck to put into Knight Rider than the Ford F-150, thats for sure!
The Ford F6

“With an awesome 310kW of power, FPV’s new turbo-charged F6 sedan is one of the best performing six-cylinder vehicles on the Australian market. Powered by the high performance 4.0 litre turbo-charged DOHC 24 valve in-line six, the F6 produces maximum power of 310kW at 5500 rpm and maximum torque of 565Nm across the range from 1950 to 5200 rpm.”
Yes you read that right. Turbocharged straight 6 from Ford.
The Ford GT-P

“The GT-P is powered by the upgraded 5.4-litre Boss V8 engine, producing 315kW of power at 6,500rpm and 551Nm of torque at 4,750rpm.” The majority of their lineup is powered by the 5.4-litre Boss V8. It’s got power but even more powerful than that, fuel economy!
The Ford Super Pursuit

The new Super Pursuit is one serious sports coupe. Called a sports coupe in Australia we would call them half car and half truck. Could something like this make it here in North America? I think so!
The Ford F6X

Powered by a 4.0 litre turbo-charged DOHC 24 valve in-line six, the F6X produces a maximum power of 270kW and 550Nm of torque – figures that are unmatched by any local or imported luxury six-cylinder SUV equivalents. Talk about Explorer with a twist.
Sorry dudes, you can’t have em! Thank you Ford USA and the Unions!

I love the FPV line. My last two trips to Oz I’ve seen these cars and they not only look great but sound awesome ripping by on the highway. Unfortunately, style and performance such as this is not a priority for Ford of North America…..too bad…might have helped sales.
Being down here in New Zealand ?Sout Pacific, I get to enjoy these cars on a regular basis, and I sure wish we had these offerings back home in Canada. The V8 cup is a lot of fun to watch and seeing these cars on the street (Both the Fords and Holdens) is a nich change from the typical “Domestic Crap” offered in the North American Market.
It’s such crap: the domestic automakers lobby our government for our tax dollars to stay afloat because of poor sales at home. They make other vehicles abroad that are not only fully compliant with North American standards, but would essentially save the brand at home.
97′Scort you hit it on the nail. I don’t understand why the government should help save automakers who make poor qulaity vehicles. I don’t think they are that oblivious to what there counter parts are doing abroad. I guess they are looking for the easy road out but maybe they need to crash and it will force them to rethinl there approach to things.
I can’t say that I am a huge fan of Ford but this are great looking cars
[...] on grueling off-road courses like the Baja 1000. This truck will even put the cars and trucks from Ford Australia’s FPV division to shame. AMERICA, F@#K [...]
Some great looking vehicles that is for sure!
