The Corvette Racing C7.R Is A Loud Vehicle

Do you guys remember last year in New York where I said the Chevrolet Z/28 was the loudest most badass unveil I’d ever seen? It was something along those lines, anyway. Well, Chevy just dethroned themselves today at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show with the Corvette C7.R reveal.

There’s really not much to say. They played a video with V8 noises like they did with the Camaro, but then they brought out the race car and just sat there revving for a while. It’s something so simple, so mundane, but so beautiful.

The C7.R was developed in conjunction with the C7 Corvette Z06 it shared the stage with this morning. Requiring only minor tweaks to the aerodynamics and chassis, it’s a testament to how track-worthy the new Z06 is. With obviously widened fenders and a giant rear wing, there’s no mistaking the C7.R for a street car, but the similarities to the Z06 are definitely visible.

The C7.R will make its racing debut at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, January 25-26 2014. In the meantime, browse the gallery and make the loudest engine noises you can with your mouth.
