The 2013 North American International Auto ShowPosted by: Kenny Chan onJanuary 18th, 2013
We’re back home after visiting Detroit (and Windsor) for the 2013 North American International Auto Show. It was a great show at Cobo Hall which is still in the midst of a major renovation that will transform the building on the banks of the Detroit River.
The big news out of the 2013 NAIAS was of course the unveiling of the new C7 Corvette but there were a handful of other reveals that many were anticipating such as the Cadillac ELR, the facelifted Mercedes-Benz E-Class including the E63 AMG, the almost-production ready BMW Concept 4 Series Coupe, and the Silverado/Sierra trucks along with Ford’s answer to them, the Ford Atlas Concept, offering a preview of the next-generation F-150. There was also much anticipation of the new CLA-Class which we have official pictures of but sadly it was not a part of the Mercedes-Benz reveal at Cobo Hall but instead was down the street at the Westin. Mercedes wanted to keep the spotlight on the new E-Class so they’ll unveil the CLA to the public in Geneva and will hopefully bring it to New York for its North American public debut.
too many any surprises as there were many leaks and broken embargoes throughout the week before the show doors opened to the media. Perhaps the only thing that our crew did not expect was the lack of Chrysler hype at the show–a couple of new Jeeps that look the same don’t count.
Here’s a quick highlight of all the vehicles that were unveiled. Click on the names or photos of each to read more details or to launch a photo gallery. There were other vehicles that we shot but we’ll post this later this or next week. We were also told that NAIAS is a car show (oh really?…) by a friendly booth professional, but that didn’t stop our photographers from capturing every element of the show including the professionals that work each of the booths. We’ll post those later, after we’re done posting all the car stuff ;)
