BBC Made a Mistake Firing Clarkson

Jeremy Clarkson is a ratings god. His journalistic approach which is combines a great level of wit and the temperament of an adolescent which strangely charms viewers by the masses. This hold true so much so that ex-BBC boss Mark Thompson has even said that “it was a huge mistake for the BBC to let Clarkson go”.

Thompson goes on to say that “Clarkson can be a deeply objectionable individual, and I say that as a friend. I don’t think people should punch their colleagues. It’s hard to keep them if they do. But I would say his pungent, transgressive, slightly out-of-control talent was something the BBC could ill afford to lose.”

Lucky for us, and unlucky for the BBC, Clarkson found himself a new job along side his equally rating drawing team of Richard Hammond and James May and will be back on the air this fall with their new show The Grand Tour.

The Grand Tour Wraps Up Shooting

The Grand Tour just finished wrapping up their first episode filming in Johannesburg, South Africa, and we can’t wait for the season to air. It has been some time since we’ve seen the dynamic trio of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May hit out TV screens and since talks about their new show started to circulate viewers around the world have been waiting for them to come back.

The concept of the show is a great departure from the trios original show concept. Having seen what each host could create based on their solo shows over the years, we know that the team is dynamic enough to pull off a different concept. The key is whether the energy which worked under the Top Gear UK brand will carry forward to this new concept. I am hopeful for the new show and can’t wait for The Grand Tour to air.

The Grand Tour – Clarkson, Hammond and May’s New Show

Since their departure from the Top Gear franchise, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May have been busy working on a new project with Amazon Prime. Starting a new show up from scratch is a lot of work. According to interviews with James May who acknowledged the show has a huge per episode budget, he also open admitted that not only does it cost a lot to produce good quality TV, their spending budget also included buying things like printers and supplies for their new office.

But all that aside, they thing that’s got the team’s head scratching lately is what to name the show. It looks like that’s now also been settled…so moving along. OK, lets take a step back and recognize the new show name which has been dubbed “The Grand Tour” which will start airing this fall.

According to Clarkson, he said “Thing is, we’ll be travelling the world hosting each episode in a different country, from a giant tent. It’s a sort of ‘grand tour,’ if you like. So we’ve decided to call it ‘The Grand Tour.’”
