Meet The Most Powerful Car at SEMA 2014

dodge-charger-rt-funny-car-sema-2014-3

While the Mopar booth was packed with cool cars, the spotlight was squarely on the 2015 Dodge Charger R/T Funny Car which was revealed here in Las Vegas for the first time.

This is the first new Dodge funny car body since 2006. The current model has won 68 national titles, two NHRA Funny Car World Champsionships, 44 #1 Qualifiers and posted the first 3-second run in NHRA history! The 2015 is claimed to be stronger and lighter while maintaining nearly identical aerodynamics to the outgoing version. The new funny car will make its NHRA debut next season at the Winternationals event in California, February 2015. Until then, take a look at it below!

Mopar Booth Tour – SEMA 2014

Mopar-SEMA-8

Mopar brought one of everything to SEMA 2014, including a funny car! From Ram to Renegade, from ACR to Abarth, there was a Mopar Concepts vehicle for everyone.

The small car segment was well represented with a Dodge Dart, two Fiat 500s and a Chrysler 200S. The Dart sported a matte black hood, with a scoop more prominent than our picture makes it seem, and a revised front fascia to allow plenty of air to the mysterious turbo-charged engine. It’s about time Dodge brought the newest iteration of the SRT-4 here, after the Neon made a splash and the Caliber just sunk, and this concept fits the bill. Whether or not we actually see it is yet to be seen but, with the success Ford is having with the Fiesta and Focus ST, we can’t help but think Dodge will follow suit. The other three cars were more visually focused, only sporting significant paint, body and wheel changes, but the 200S also received a drop from coilovers and was truly stunning. Clean and elegant. I bet they’d sell a lot more if they came out of the factory looking like Mopar’s version.

Jeeps and other off-road vehicles of SEMA 2014

Jeeps-and-other-offroad-SEMA-29

You may have already seen our Trucks at SEMA 2014 post, and even our Classic Trucks of SEMA 2014 but if you were an eagle-eyed reader, or an avid fan of Jeeps and other off-road vehicles, you may have noticed a lack of such vehicles. Fear not, as we had to separate them out to make each post a bit more manageable.

Please enjoy our gallery of Jeeps and other offroad vehicles form the 2014 SEMA Show.

What Goes On Outside The SEMA 2014 Show – Part 1

outside-outdoors-sema-2014-40

I joke every year that the cars and models outside of the main SEMA Show are just as jaw dropping as the cars at most car shows. There is just an amazing amount of nicely done up cars and it really is hard as a tuner to stand out whether you’re booth is inside or outside of SEMA. Instead of just covering the cars inside the main halls we made sure to shoot the cars outside as well and as you can tell there are plenty of great builds. There was a great variety of cars outside including classic trucks, not-so-classic trucks, cars with over fenders, full blown race cars, and cars drifting with show attendees.

Going Old School – Classic Trucks and Jeeps of SEMA 2014

Old-and-rusty-Trucks-SEMA-69

Yesterday, we posted up our gallery of Trucks at SEMA 2014 and if you took a look you saw there was a huge variety of trucks from almost stock to slammed, carbon fiber laden custom builds. There were so many trucks at the show we shot that we decided to split up the Mater looking classics and rusty trucks and jeeps into their own post.

I mentioned to my colleagues as we were shooting all the cars and trucks that of my top 5 list, at least 3 of them are included in this post. That’s right, a wide body Liberty Walk Lamborghini Aventador may really awesome, but nothing beats a classic Ford truck that’s been restored and accented with modern parts. I think my overall favorite was the 1937 Ford Truck built by Smitty Smith at Edelbrock. Not only does the thing rock heated seats, but its pumping out 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque.

Please enjoy our gallery of old school trucks from the 2014 SEMA Show. Hope you like them as much as I did.

I Like Big Butts – Widebodies at SEMA 2014

widebody-sema-2014-66

With nearly half the cars at SEMA sporting a widebody kit or Fender flares, it was by far the biggest showcase of kit vendors of any auto show or convention in recent memory. I’m not going to lie, but I love it. Rocket Bunny kits were out in full force, giving affordable cars that menacing race car look. On the other end of the spectrum, Liberty Walk covered the exotics market, from the Nissan GTR to the amazing Lamborghini LP720-4. My personal favorite? The Camaro ZL1 Widebody pictured above. That’s an ass that will make Coco jealous.

FoST and FiST of SEMA 2014

Ford-ST-SEMA-21

With the newly minted Ford ST Owner’s Club on Beyond, it was our duty to ensure that we covered the Focus and Fiestas thoroughly throughout SEMA 2014. While the Ford booth had some models on display, my personal favorite was the Rally Innovations/AEM Ford Fiesta ST rally car that sat outside by the entrance. Wide fenders, bright paint, and of course, because race car. Check out our full gallery after the jump!

Toyo and Nitto Booth Tour – SEMA 2014

toyo-nitto-booth-tour-sema-2014-10

These guys won my pick for best cars of the show, hands down, no question. NSX, 458 Spyder, MP4-12C, GT3, GTR. Throw in a random Lambo and you’ve got a teenager’s dream garage. Or mine.

There’s not much to say here, this booth was all about the visual stimulus, so browse the gallery and make plans to attend SEMA 2015.
