2016 Mazda MX-5 Debuts in Paris

The new Miata is a long time coming. The ND generation is to be released to the public as a 2016 model. Mazda’s Kodo design language has brought an aggressive nature to what I considered a cute car. I am unsure if I like it. Well, change that, I don’t like it. I think it has more to do with Kodo than the overall look of the car. The design language really works on the Mazda6, not so much on the Mazda3. The Miata being even smaller, has me thinking that Kodo is more appropriate to larger cars (to me anyway).

This iteration has lost some weight. 2,200 lbs is the figure I have seen floating around the internet as a curb weight. No surprise is that the engine will still be a 4 cylinder and rumoured to be the 2.0L Skyactive that sees duty in other Mazda products. Expect 150-170 hp. With the weight loss, this should make it a very fun car to toss around.

Mazda’s Parade Of Miatas At The NYIAS

For the 25th birthday of the Miata, Mazda put together a huge number of historically significant Miata’s throughout it’s history at the New York International Auto Show. #14, #15, and #17, the world debut cars from the 1989 Chicago Auto Show are here, as well as #500,000 and #700,000 milestone cars. Many other Miatas dot its history, and Mazda has done a great job of rounding out the most interesting ones from the last 25 years.

Mazda Celebrates Miata’s 25th Birthday With Anniversary Edition


As the Mazda Miata turns 25 this year, Mazda is churning out a 25th Anniversary Edition to celebrate the occasion. The 25th Anniversary Edition revealed here in New York is based on the power retractable hard top model, and available with either manual or automatic transmissions. The only color available is Soul Red Metallic, and other details includes white leather upholstery and door trim, hand-finished decorative panel, Bilstein dampers, and black painted roof, A-pillars, and door mirrors.

Mazda Intros All-New 2014 Mazda 6 Sedan

Mazda has finally brought the new Mazda 6 to the North American market and is showing it off at the LA Auto Show that is opening its doors to the public today. Carrying the automakers latest KODO “Soul of Motion” design language, Mazda’s entry into the competitive family sedan market packs a one-two punch to win the hearts of car shoppers when it arrives in early 2013.
