We wouldn’t hold it against you if you’d never heard of the FSO Syrena Sport. FSO built the long-enduring Syrena for some 17 years nonstop, and while the machines were mostly plodding family sedans, engineers at FSO did create one version with a bit more zest. The Syrena Sport was a two-door …
When it comes to fighting fire with fire, it doesn’t get much hotter than watching these two heavyweight supercars go at it. Thankfully the crew at DragTimes decided to put together a “What If…” video to hypothetically find out if a 1,500 horsepower Nissan GT-R AMS Alpha 12+ has what it takes …
The team from The Dashboard recently stopped by the Nissan Technical Center in Japan for a look at what exactly goes into creating a full-scale clay model. While automakers have been using clay bucks for decades, designers and engineers are now combining computer renderings and hand-sculpted …
The Nissan NV200 is having a rough go of it as New York City’s Taxi of Tomorrow. The Greater New York Taxi Association wants the van banned on the grounds that it isn’t a hybrid, and has gone so far as to sue the city to keep the NV200 out of taxi fleets. According to The New York Times, the …
Nissan’s got a big ol’ show planned for its immersive space at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show where visitors will see, touch, hear and smell the Nissan world. Sitting among 20 offerings that include the GT-R, Quest, Murano and Teana will be the Friend-Me concept (pictured above), the first show …
Any Japanese car fan will tell you that the Nissan Skyline GT-R is amongst their all time favourites. And even if they aren’t fans, they still respect the legendary Nissan for what it did on the streets and in motorsports. As the most winning Touring car of all time, R32 Skyline GT-Rs were on …

For the 2014 model year, Nissan has added a hybrid model to their Pathfinder lineup and are showing it off at this year’s New York Auto Show. When Nissan redesigned the Pathfinder, which was just released last year, they likely already had this model in mind. No modifications were necessary to the chassis, floor, or body of the Pathfinder to fit the new lithium-ion battery used to power the 15kW electrical motor which sits between the engine and the transmission. Even the sliding second row is intact maintaining easy access to the third row, under which the battery sits.
The electrical motor produces about 20 horsepower and coupled with a supercharged 2.5L engine the hybrid powertrain produces about 250 horsepower and 243 lb-ft of torque. All this is accomplished while delivering some impressive fuel economy of 9.4, 8.7 and 9.1L/100km for city, highway and combined respectively.
Visually, there is no difference separating the standard Pathfinder and this new hybrid models other than the LED taillights which are exclusive (for now) to the hybrid model. Nissan has not announced any pricing details but expect the sticker price to be about $3500 (US pricing) more than the standard V6 model when it arrives at dealerships this summer.
One more shot of the 2014 Nissan Pathfinder After The Break
We live in a world now where not every police cruiser and taxi is a Ford Crown Victoria, not every executive car is a Lincoln Town Car and not every ambulance is based on a Ford or GM truck. Vehicles like the new Nissan NV200 are making inroads into the service, livery and emergency vehicle …
