Bryant Gumbel and Katie Couric Super Bowl ad equates BMW i3 with the Internet

BMW fancies its new i3 electric car as something revolutionary – which, to be entirely honest, it is. But while we as automotive enthusiasts might know this, the general populous may not, which is why the German company is shelling out what is no doubt a substantial sum of money for a spot…

AWD BMW M5 is headed our way

Remember the rumour about the BMW M5 going all-wheel drive? Well, there’s definitely some truth there because these spy shots show BMW testing the Autobahn-storming sedan with the ability to spin the front and rear wheels.

Our spy shooters grew suspicious when they saw this seemingly normal-l…

BMW mulling potential 9 Series production

Nine months may be long enough to bring another human being into the world, but it may take BMW a bit longer to make up its mind on the production of a potential 9 Series model.

The idea was first mooted when the Bavarian automaker presented the Vision Future Luxury concept at the Beijing Mot…

Next BMW M5 could go all-wheel drive

Franciscus van Meel had been a part of Audi AG management since 1996, in positions including chassis development and vehicle project director. In 2012 he was named managing director of Quattro GmbH – headquarters for personal favourites like the RS6 Avant and R8 – but he lasted just two years be…

Refreshed BMW 6 Series sports an understated redesign in Detroit, just look hard to see it [w/video]

BMW is keeping its refresh for the 2015 6 Series family very subtle. The tweaks amount to an understated nose job for the luxury models and some new standard tech, as well. The Bavarian brand is definitely not going too far with this redesign for the vehicles, and they even remain mechanically t…

BMW Facelifts the 6 Series

2016-bmw-m6-coupe-naias-2015-6

I haven’t seen so much written about so little since, uh, I guess literally every article Shelton writes about a Mercedes. BMWs refresh of the 6-series is like wearing contact lenses which are the same colour as your eyes, then telling everybody how different you look. When I started writing this I was quoting BMW’s press release and then putting a tl;dr below each blurb. They’d spend a paragraph with fluff and I’d put “New headlights” underneath. It was funny. I had to scrap it though because the article was up to 800 words. That’s too many words. Their press release is so long I can’t even make fun of it. So here’s what I’m going to do. I’m going list the most significant¬†bits that changed, and if you care enough to get more information, here’s a link to the¬†NEARLY FIVE THOUSAND WORD PRESS RELEASE. Good? Good.

1 less bar on the grill.

Standard LED headlights.

Slightly different foglights.

Slightly different front apron.

More aerodynamic mirrors.

More badging.

More interior colour options.

Boom. 211 words and you’ve got all you need. Check out the pictures and try to figure out whether they’re actually from the refresh or if we tricked you by putting last year’s model in the gallery.

Next-gen BMW 7 Series options include ‘Sky Lounge’ roof, leather engine cover

When it comes to luxury and technology, the theme of the next-generation BMW 7 Series appears to be ‘everything, everywhere.’ Two of the new options joining what will be an extensive list are the Sky Lounge panoramic glass roof, said to be a nod going all the way back to the Concept 5 Series Gra…

This family has a trio of beautiful BMW E28 5 Series

The Caccavo family is not like yours. They’re actually far, far cooler. Rather than dad driving a pickup, mom piloting a crossover and son getting about in a clapped-out compact, each member of the family has their very own second-generation BMW 5 Series.

Father Dean’s M5, mom DonnaRae’s 528e…

BMW 5 Series future: 3-cyl engines and 600-hp M5

What if we told you the next BMW M5 would crest 600 horsepower? You probably wouldn’t be too surprised, considering the steady increase in output that’s accompanied each preceding generation. Now, what if we told you that the next BMW 5 Series would be available with a three-cylinder engine? Yea…
