iPhone Nano To Launch By Holiday Season?

Not so long after Apple released the original iPhone, rumors began popping up that Apple would release an iPhone Nano to cover the cheaper end of the spectrum based on the iPod Nano. Now, after the release of the iPhone 3G phone in all markets around the world those rumors are resurfacing. According to Kevin Chang, a JP Morgan analyst based in Taiwan:

Apple is looking to launch a cheaper version of the iPhone in the fourth quarter that could be based on its iPod nano music player

The report cites anonymous sources (of course!) in the supply channel and also references an Apple held patent that suggests such a device has at least been considered by Apple. One thing that we can all be sure of is that the iPhone 3G will not be the last phone from Cupertino. If this product is real, I hope this phone is delayed until late 2009 so that the new wireless carriers will be there for the launch. Here’s hoping!
