Mercedes has come out big at this year’s New York Auto Show. Among all the new vehicles they’ve debuted was the all new 2017 GLC Coupe. This particular SUV coupe has found its home in the silver arrows North American lineup. With coupe SUVs becoming commonplace, as well as the SUV market in North America continuing to strengthen, Mercedes will capitalize on this opportunity with their coupe SUV.
The proportions of the GLC coupe is essentially a regular GLC that has been stretched out and lowered giving it that unique shape. The rear end utilizes a hatch style back to gain access to the large cargo space. The profile of the coupe makes it stand apart from its counterpart. The front end changes are subtle with a single barred grille. With the hunkered down profile of the coupe, rear passengers will lose some headroom, although not as much loss as one might think.
We couldn’t wait for Mercedes to reveal their GLC43 AMG at the New York Auto Show, and I guess the German company couldn’t either. Photos are all over the internet on the all new crossover and it’s quite the looker. The small/mid sized SUV not only looks the part it also will have the power to back things up thanks to the fellas over at AMG.
The GLC43 will be using AMG’s 3.0L twin turbo V6 that pumps out a very respectable 362hp and 384lb/ft of torque which should help the GLC43 sprint to 100km/h in 4.8 seconds. The GLC will be using Mercedes new 9G-Tronic automatic transmission which is specially tuned for the GLC platform. This transmission should deliver extremely quick and precise shift points making the GLC that much more fun while you carry your family, your dog, and a trunk load of gear around.
On the exterior, the GLC43 gets the AMG treatment as well with larger sport wheels, custom aero and the interior has been massaged over a bit as well. Both front passengers can plant themselves firmly in a set of AMG bucket seats for the take off. More details about the GLC43 AMG will come out once it makes its official debut at the upcoming New York Auto Show.
