A photo book both documentary photographers and motorsports fans alike can appreciate, Porsche Works Team (or Porsche Werkseinsatz if you prefer) is the latest offering by publisher Delius Klasing, known for their stellar collection catering to Porsche lovers (including this one: 911 LoveRS)

Their latest is a 272 page, hard cover book documenting the insane behind-the-scenes world that is endurance racing with all images by German photographer Frank Kayser.

But what really separates Porsche Works Team and gives Kayer’s work that extra dose of credibility is his exclusive access to areas like the racers’ quarters and the pits, where photographers are never allowed.

The result is an in-dept, touching look that truly captures the emotions — from the tension in the pits to the beauty of the closed tracks, and everything in-between.

You don’t need to be a Le Mans fan to really appreciate the street photographer-style of shots in this book. But if you are, Kayser takes us into a world of racing majority of have never seen up close all captured in stills.

Fiat Chrysler Automobile Responds to Gear Selector Issues

2013 Dodge Charger with eight-speed automatic transmission

When drivers went from 3-on-the-tree to the conventional “new” automatic transmission shifting pattern it was not only a revolutionary way of shifting, but also a much simpler process. That cannot be said for modern day automatic transmissions. Every time I get in to a new car, it seems I have to relearn how their shifter work. And by shifter I don’t mean a manual transmission that needs some skills and coordination to operate, I’m simply talking about how to get the car out of park.

The NHTSA recently launched an investigation at Fiat Chrysler vehicles looking at their problematic gear shifters in more than 853,000 vehicles. What was created as a fancy way to select gears and stand apart from competition has lead to nothing but headaches for drivers often miss selecting a gear and creating a situation where an accident could happen.

NHTSA’s investigation includes the 2012-14 Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger. The problem with their ZF designed shifter is that the shifter itself isn’t intuitive and gear selection is not clear leading drivers to unintentionally selecting the wrong gear. So far more than a 100 automobile accidents and injuries have been linked to Chrysler’s gear selector issue.

The Fiat Chrysler Automobile group has already responded by using a new rotary shift dial in their new 300, Charger and Grand Cherokee models.
