Mercedes E63 AMG Estate Spotted at the Ring

You might have read my teaser about AMG’s new beast of a family hauler the E63. This wagon packs a whopping 604hp which is undoubtedly plenty to haul around the family and grab some groceries. Now it’s been spied making its way around the Nurburging doing some test laps. Still under camo, but it’s clear that the aggressive nature of the E63 AMG can’t be hidden.

Mercedes is likely going to use their 4.0L twin-turbo V8 in the 2017 E63. The motor has been shared in the C63 and AMG GT S. Mated to AMGs seven-speed Speedshift automatic transmission, the power will be delivered to all four wheels via an AMG-tuned 4Matic all-wheel drive system.

We are hoping the all new 2017 Mercedes-AMG E63 and E63 S will start to hit showroom floors by the end of the year. Both a sedan and wagon variant will likely be available to consumers with former to make its way to consumers first.


Mercedes’ E63 AMG May Push 600 Horsepower

Mercedes is really pushing the boundaries of a family hauling hot rod these days. Their AMG division has been churning out some fire breathing beasts over the past few years with plenty of horsepower and torque to boot. Their latest E63 AMG in S trim is said to push power levels to 0604hp and 627lb/ft of torque.

The E63 will use Mercedes’ 4.0L twin turbo V8 powerplant. This engine will be shared with the C-Class AMG as well. With the E’s bigger curb weight, the very capable M177 AMG motor is still able to help the E63 sprint to 100km/h in just 3.5 seconds for the S-trim car.

The all new E63 AMG may make its first appearance at the Paris Auto Show in October.


Mercedes AMG E63 Estate Spied

Minivans have always been associated with soccer moms, but for those soccer dads there’s always the Mercedes AMG E63 wagon to satisfy our performance hungers. The AMG E63 is undoubtedly one of the most powerful vehicles in its class. Mercedes is about to release an all new version to the public, but for now, we’ll just have to be patient and feast our eyes on some spy photos (photo cred: Autoblog).

The new E63 wagon is still wearing its spy gear, but we can generally see some of it’s design details and overall dimensions. The front facia doesn’t look like it will be a unique piece specifically for the high powered wagon with extra venting for the big motor. The fenders are subtle and don’t immediate say “flare”, but a glimpse at the wide tires tell the tale of some big wide fenders. The rear profile looks a little softer than the current generation E63 Wagon.

The production model will likely use Mercedes 4.0L twin turbo V8 but more highly tuned for the big body wagon. No power output has been released but we’d expect it to be somewhere near the 600hp mark. As with previous AMG models, the E63 will likely have large performance brakes, and a sport tuned exhaust with Mercedes signature angular quad exhaust tips.


Quick Review: Mercedes-Benz E63S AMG Wagon


When I first laid eyes on the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E63 S-Model AMG Wagon in New York, I knew AMG had a winner on their hands. Now, after spending some time with it on the track I can confirm my initial reaction. This, ladies and gentlemen, is the ultimate sleeper. The competition is over. As a big fan of Mercedes-Benz and AMG cars, you might think that I’m being biased. I’m not. This vehicle is that good, and presented in station wagon form, is so subtle on the outside that if not for the red brake calipers (orange when fitted with carbon brakes), you would have no idea what the car is capable of. The only thing missing to make it more discrete are wood side paneling.

How good is the E63S Wagon? Mercedes-Benz AMG brought one out to the Optima Invitational in Las Vegas as a camera car on Saturday, and on an exhibition run, set the fastest lap time of the day. The cars competing were serious machines from SEMA, as Optima Batteries handpicked these cars to compete at the event. But let’s rewind back a week, where I had a chance to sample the E63S Wagon as well as the Sedan for a back to back comparison.

New York: Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG Wagon


As car enthusiasts like myself get older, we need something that’s a little more practical. We want a daily driver that fits the bill for every situation; haul kids, grocery shopping, drive through blizarrds in the winter, and hit the track in the summers. Finally, our prayers have been answered, as Mercedes-AMG shows the E63 AMG Wagon publically for the first time. This is the ultimate sleeper that does it all, 577hp, sport suspension, rear seat entertainment, AWD, packaged in a station wagon.

A few beyonders, including myself, will be taking delivery of this beast in the upcoming years. And here she is in the flesh. Perfection.

Mercedes-Benz unveils 2014 E Class Facelift


Mercedes-Benz brought out some celebrities to help unveil the new E Class Facelift today at the Detroit North American International Auto Show. The new E class, which honestly looks more like a redesign, was unveiled one after another by Joshua Jackson and Diane Kruger, as well as Mercedes Benz Head and Chairman Dieter Zetsche. First up was the E400 Hybrid, a combination 3.5L V6 with electrical drive that puts out 275hp.

Next up was the E Class Wagon, which was then followed by the stunning E Cabriolet and E Coupe. If you get a chance this fall, head to the dealer to check these 2 cars out, as it’s one of the sexiest cars to see in person.

Once the gawking stopped from the crowd, Dieter Zetsche rolled out the all new E63 AMG, which should take the crown for the quickest production sedan and wagon as soon as the car magazines gets their hands on this bad boy. With 585hp and AWD, and the most aggressive looks that’s borderline Black Series aggressive, the E63 AMG will turn heads once it hits the road in late summer of this year.

Detroit Preview: Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG S-Model


We’ve seen this car disguised and in action over the last month, and finally, some official details, specs and photos on the much anticipated 2014 E63 AMG S-Model have been released by Mercedes-AMG ahead of the official unveiling at the 2013 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The facelifted E-Class is a major redesign of the E platform, as sales of the current model was slipping against BMW’s new 5 series. Mercedes-Benz went back to the drawing board, and updated much more than your typical facelift.

Starting with the drivetrain, the new 4matic system in the 2014 E63 AMG sedan to rocket to 100km/h from a standstill in 3.6s, while the Estate model is slightly slower at 3.7s. The 33/67 fixed split, along with the limited slip differential provide RWD like handling capabilities, which means you can still get the car nicely sideways. The M157 5.5L V8 Twin Turbo engine has been updated to pump out an astonishing 585hp.

2014 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG 4Matic. Your move Audi.

This is an unmasked photo of the all new facelifted 2014 E63 AMG. As the current E63 AMG hits the 4 year old mark, Mercedes-Benz performed some magic on the platform for the facelift. To be honest, you wouldn’t recognize it sitting beside the current model. It’s almost a completely new car.

The biggest change is the inclusion of the 4Matic system. AMG spent 2 and a half years re-engineering the 4Matic system to ensure that it’s worthy of the AMG brand. The current 4Matic system can vary torque between 30 to 70 percent front to rear or rear to front, adds 144lbs, and isn’t exactly drift friendly (I learned that in my CLS550 4Matic on our first snowfall). So AMG completely re-engineered the system for a 33/67 fixed front to rear split. They removed all of the electronically locking clutches, reduced the size of the rear half-shafts, and cut the weight of the system by 100lbs. The result is staggering, a mere 44lb increase over the RWD E63, and with the added traction, 0-60mph times of get this, 3.4 seconds. That makes it the quickest sedan in the world.

AMG Performance Tour stops by in Calgary


The AMG Performance Tour Road Show made a stop in Calgary this week, bringing with them 14 AMG vehicles for a lucky few to sample. AMG owners were invited by their respective dealerships and sales staff to join AMG in testing out their current line of vehicles in an enviroment they were designed for, on the race track, at Race City Motorsports Park.

Being the biggest AMG fanboy out there, and having owned 4 different AMGs in the past few years, I was given an invite to this event. Seeing as this is the final week for Race City (it’s officially closing after this weekend), what better way than to spend a few hours on the track I grew up with, hammering on some of the finest (and personal favorite) vehicles from Affalterbach.
