Audi R6 Concept in the Works

Standaufnahme Farbe: Energiegelb

Rumors of Audi building an all new sports coupe which will be slotted between their TT and the R8 have been circulating for quite some time. Like all manufacturers, the key to producing all new vehicles is more than just will consumers buy it. It also has to make financial sense to produce the vehicle in the first place so the company can make money.

This is where Porsche comes into the picture. The all new Porsche 718 Boxster and Cayman will share its platform with the R6 which will dramatically drop production cost for both automakers as chassis development cost will now be shared amongst the mid-engined sports cars. That’s right, the R6 Concept will have another thing common with its bigger brother the R8. The engine will be sitting mid-ship.

Although these are all just rumors, there’s too many facts that are leaking out to the public to not think Audi will eventually put the R6 Concept into production.

Iron Man’s Choice Car is a New Audi R8

Ever since the first installment of the Iron Man movie franchise, Tony Stark has always chosen to drive Audi’s flagship sports car R8. He did take a small departure and drove around in a new NSX, but his alliance soon went back to Audi in his most recent appearance in the Captain American movie.

The Marvel movie franchise continues to use and place Audi products on the big screen. In Captain America: Civil War fans will see the A4 and the A7 make an appearance with their favorite characters. Also, the new 2017 SQ7 crossover with its ample amounts of power will be towing around agents as they fight off enemy fire.

Director of Marketing for Audi of America, Loren Angelo, says that the Tony Stark character carries a level of sophistication and wit which mirrors the image being conveyed by the all new R8. “By having him drive our cars, we see only positives coming from that.”

2018 Audi RS3 Arrives in US

Audi’s RS cars have long been on the wish list of Audi enthusiasts as well as many others. Problem is Audi has been very selective of which RS models they release in the US. Some of the RS cars produced by the automaker will never make their way onto North American soil. But the latest news which is very soon to happen is that the RS3 will be landing on US shores in 2017.

Rumors of powerplant choices are slowly being confirmed. The RS3 is likely going to be using a 2.5L turbo five cylinder engine that will pump out over 400 hp and power will be transferred to all four wheels via Audi’s seven speed S-Tronic transmission. Actual performance specifications are not yet known since this is an all new powerplant, but do expect four second runs to 100km/h.

2016 Audi A8 L Extended

The 2016 Audi A8 L is one of the longest wheelbase vehicles in its class. The A8 L stretches an impressive 207.4 inches, so what can top that? Well, an extended version of the L. Audi, by special request by a customer built the A8 L Extended which spans a massive 250.8 inches.

The extended A8 was designed and built all inhouse and took a good part of a year to complete. The body and chassis has been lengthened 13.8 feet and now seats 6 passengers very comfortably. Audi decided to drop in their 3.0L supercharged V6 motor under the hood which pumps out 306hp and 325lb/ft of torque. Refreshed Audi A3 Gets Sharper Image

audi a3

Audi is refreshing their entire lineup with a few exterior enhancements which give the car shaper angles and overall more aggressive lines. Buyers will get the most enjoyment of the new A3 when they step into the cabin and step on the throttle.

Audi is offering the entire line of new A3s with their next-generation virtual digital cockpit. The central display on the car provides all the engine vitals, and can shift and provide you all the car’s infotainment information. All of this can be managed by the hand controls on the steering wheel. New for the A3 is the luxury option of massage front seats. A perfect companion for a long road trip.

Audi’s all new three-cylinder, 1L ultra-efficient turbocharged engine isn’t going to be the performance king in a straight line, but it definitely rewards owners with some amazing fuel mileage. Other engine options include a 2.0L TFSI or the tuned up four cylinder turbo motor in the S3.

Audi R8 Spyder Makes Global Debut at NY Auto Show

Today, Audi showed off the roofless version of the R8, the Audi R8 Spyder at the New York International Auto Show. There really isn’t much to say other than the obvious lack of a roof on the Spyder. The soft top takes about 20 seconds to retract and can be operated up to about 50 km/h. With the R8 already designed and built with the Spyder model in mind, there were minimal changes made to accomodate the soft top resulting in minimal weight gains and loss of rigidity.

“For Audi of America, the R8 started a revolution,” said Scott Keogh, President, Audi of America. “It didn’t just win at the racetrack and become the car of super heroes, it truly added Audi to the luxury conversation in the U.S.”

Under the hood there is the same 5.2L V10 mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Pricing for the R8 Spyder was not available at the time this was written, but we’ll be sure to update it as soon as we get it. The R8 Spyder will be built at the R8 production facility outside Neckarsulm, Germany.

Audi is Bringing the A5 Sportback to the US

Well it’s been hinted that Audi may be bringing a new body style of their A5 to the American market. Currently we already get the coupe and the convertible, so the next logical conclusion is they will bring over the Sportback which is currently only a Europe destined vehicle.

Size and physical appearance wise, the A5 Sportback is like an A7 light. The car features a sloped rear roofline that ends in a hatchback style trunk. The sportback vehicles have a great appeal because the hatchback style rear allows for much better access to the rear trunk space which typically also offers slightly more usable space.

If the A5 Sportback does make its way onto North American soil, we should see them hit the showroom floors in early 2017.

All New Audi SQ7 TDI Revealed

Audi SQ7 TDI

Audi spilled the beans on their all new SQ7 TDI SUV which is packing some amazing new technology which helps with fuel economy while still delivering a wallop of power to satisfy the fun factor. The SQ7 utilizes a diesel engine and a 48 volt electrical system which provides power support to a number of onboard features.

The TDI powerplant itself is a 4.0L V8 diesel that pumps out 435hp and 664lb/ft of torque. The power comes way of a triple charging system. Let me explain. There are two turbos mounted between the two cylinder banks which provide one source of forced induction. The first turbo provides boost and responsiveness at low to medium speed driving. The second turbo activates during higher speed higher rpm driving. The third source of induction is a supercharger which is powered by the 48 volt electrical system. This type of charger system is a world’s first and is put in place to provide low end boost before the first turbo kicks in. Essentially, this forced induction powerplant has virtually no boost lag and immediate responsiveness across the entire power band.

Put that all together and the SQ7 TDI become a very capable and fuel efficient vehicle. The large SUV has a 31.8mpg rating, but can still propel you from 0-100km/h in just 4.8 seconds. There is an optional chassis dynamics package that includes a sport differential, all wheel steering and a disconnecting stabilizer bars. The stabilizer bar feature works by disconnecting its function during straight line driving which improves overall ride quality, but when the corners come the system instantly reactivates the stabilizer bars to improve corning ability.

The all new Audi SQ7 will hit European showroom floors around spring time at a base price of $99,000USD.

Audi S4 Avant Revealed for Europe

Audi S4 Avant 2017

Audi revealed their latest variant to join the A4 lineup, the all new 2017 S4 Avant. A beautifully designed vehicle that sits on Volkswagen’s MLB2 chassis, the S4 is a welcomed entry in the wagon space. With less and less wagons being available to North American consumers, only time will tell if the S4 Avant will make it’s way here.

Audi yet again creates an amazing interior for its customers. Standard fair for the S4 is a nappa wrapped leather interior with diamond and cross stitching. Brushed aluminum accents are throughout the cabin providing for a luxury and sporty feel.

The new S4 will use a 3.0L TFSI V6 which generates 354hp and 369b/ft of torque all mated to an eight speed automatic transmission. Power is sent to all four wheels via Audi’s torque vectoring system and propels the S4 from 0-100kph in just 4.9 seconds.

Sticker price for the 2017 S4 Avant will be around $67,400USD, that is if it even lands on North American soil.

Audi to Release a Q2

Audi is getting their feet planted very well into the SUV market. This year, they plan to bring another new model to the lineup, the Q2 which falls into the compact crossover segment. Specs for the new Q2 is sparse at this time, but based on it’s small sizing direct competition in that space will be limited. The Q2 is one of many cars Audi will bring to market as it aggressively aims to hit 60 new models over the next 4 years.

The aim of Audi is to provide a vehicle in almost every car segment to satisfy all walks of customers. With an ever expanding demand for SUVs in North America, it really is a sure thing for automakers like Audi to continue to beef up model options in this space.
