Mitsubishi Unveils All-New 2014 Outlander and 2013 Outlander Sport Limited EditionPosted by: Shelton Kwan onNovember 30th, 2012
Mitsubishi announced the all new 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander compact crossover at the LA Auto Show. Redesigned inside and out, the new Outlander focuses on efficiency with a more aerodynamic shape to lower drag, lightweight body (200lbs less than the model it replaces), and an eco-friendly PHEV plug-in version.
Two drivetrains will be available at launch, the 2.4L 4 cylinder engine coupled with the CVT, and the 3.0L V6 coupled to a 6 speed automatic transmission. In early 2014, the PHEV will be available in North America. The PHEV drivetrain consists of 2 electric motors (front and rear) as well as a small gasoline engine. It can be operated in pure EV mode, as well as hybrid mode depending on battery charge, vehicle speed, and driver selectable modes.
To celebrate Mitsubishi’s 30th Anniversary in America, the outgoing 2013 Outlander will be available in a Sport Limited Edition. Shown in these photos, it features blackout side mirrors, center bumper, wheel arch trim and roof rails, as well as special argent alloy wheels. Interior options include two-tone Dove Grey and Black leather seating surfaces. The special Limited Edition badging tops off the package.
