Maserati Levante Gets a V8

Maserati’s new Levante crossover is going to get a healthy dose of power bump. According to Davide Danesin, Maserati Vehicle Program Lead, the Levante will be getting the 3.8L twin turbo V8 stuffed into its engine bay. The engine is currently found in the automakers flagship Quattroporte.

Horsepower output of the V8 is spec’d at 523 horsepower. According to Danesin about shoehorning the engine into the Levante, he says “Yes, it fits, and we have a prototype already.” This is good news for the power hungry bunch and especially good news for Maserati as they add a powerful Levante to their future stable to compete against SUVs like the Porsche Cayenne Turbo and the Range Rover Sport SVR which all produce north of 500 horsepower.
