Lexus Bringing Newest Sport Coupe To Detroit

The luxury coupe market is heating up with the A5 and C-coupe having already cut their teeth and the new BMW 4-series just around the corner looking to join the fray, but what’s coming out of Japan? The new Infiniti G coupe (now called the Q60) doesn’t look like much of an update but luckily Lexus has been teasing us with their fresh new take on the segment.

The LF-CC (Lexus Future Coupe Concept) is sleek and sexy, but not outlandish like a lot of concepts can be. Based on the same platform as the new IS sedan and GS, it sports Lexus’s new trademark “spindle” grill in between two massive intakes on the front fascia, along with LED headlights and very distinct taillights around the back. A handful of styling cues from the LF-A are obvious and welcome.

The LF-CC was shown at the Paris Auto Show in 2012 and will be making another appearance at the 2013 NAIAS in Detroit. The timing, along with the relatively tame concept body style, has given us some confidence that this will be put into production. Rumours have said it’s “confirmed” for model year 2015 but Lexus hasn’t said anything yet. We’ll be looking for answers to that, and whether it’s badged as the new IS coupe or something completely different next week.
