LA Auto Show: 2014 Subaru ForesterPosted by: Shelton Kwan onNovember 29th, 2012
Unveiled in Japan 2 weeks ago, the all new 2014 Subaru Forester makes its North American debut here at the LA Auto Show. The 4th generation crossover gets significant revisions inside and out in this all new platform.
As with most manufacturers chasing performance with good fuel economy, the 2014 Forester comes with an all new 2.0L direct injection turbocharged motor, good for 250hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, replacing the outgoing model’s 2.5L turbo powerplant. The new 2.0L engine increases power by 26hp and torque by 32 lb-ft, while delivering improved fuel mileage.
The base Forester retains the naturally aspirated 2.5L boxer engine, but will also improve in fuel mileage, thanks to the new CVT transmission that comes standard with both engines. A new 6 speed manual transmission is optional on both models.
The exterior of the new Forester retains roughly the same size as the previous model, but inside, the cargo area as well as rear leg room boasts more room for the passengers. A new infotainment system provides passengers and drivers with smartphone integration, navigation, as well as a rear facing camera. The optional package also comes with a harmon/kardon premium audio system and speakers.
