Hyundai Intros New 3-Row 2014 Santa Fe Crossover

Hyundai expanded their Santa Fe Crossover line-up with a new three row, 7-seater model that they unveiled at the LA Auto Show. To fit the extra row of seating Hyundai engineers widened the Santa Fe Sport (orange one in the gallery) and added about 8 inches to the overall length. With the added length they were also able to shift the second row seats back by a couple inches to improve legroom for all passengers.

Pillars remain about the same size on the new Santa Fe with larger windows filling in the extra space. A panoramic sunroof and heated rear seats ensure all passengers ride in comfort. Also, if 7 seats aren’t required the second row can be swapped for a pair of captain’s chairs to provide everyone with a bit more room.

Under the hood we find a 3.3L V6 with gasoline direct injection motor delivering 290hp and 252 lb/ft of torque. It is the only crossover in its segment with direct injection. Pricing has not been announced but we expect to hear from Hyundai in early 2013 before the vehicle arrives at showrooms across the country. No fuel economy estimates were available in their press release but with their fuel economy reimbursement program in full swing perhaps they want to double and triple check their numbers before they publish them.
