Hyundai HCD-14 Genesis Concept

I know it’s a concept car, but the HCD-14 Genesis Concept that Hyundai unveiled here in Detroit for the 2013 North American International Auto Show definitely pushes the boundaries. The latest concept from Hyundai features bleeding edge technology such as 3D gesture recognition used to detect driver inputs for the HVAC, audio, navigation and to operate a mobile phone. The built in security system uses facial recognition to verify the driver being allowing the vehicle to start. Of course none of these technologies were demoed as this is presumably still in the conceptual stages.

Appearance wise, there is no doubt this is a concept car. Suicide doors swing open to reveal the spacious interior. The center stack flows all the way to the rear cabin, both up at the front and in the rear it physically separates the left and right passengers turning this concept vehicle into a 4 seater.

There are 4 separate LED projectors in each headlight but rather than having exposed projectors like in the Acura RLX each segment is shaped like angled brackets. Speaking of Acura the 4-step ladder grill almost makes the Acura shield look good. Almost. Moving further down to the lower front fascia/front lip there appears to be an array of LED lights forming what appears to be fog lights. The taillights are also powered by LEDs but arranged into 5 segments. No details were provided on powertrain.
