Hybrids charge the lithium market

The longstanding American fascination with the classic boat-like, gas-guzzling Cadillac may take a hit as General Motors approved a plan last week to make a plug-in hybrid electric car under the venerable brand.
Meanwhile, Toyota is set to introduce a Prius wagon or SUV, and Toshiba has returned to making rechargeable batteries for the hybrid car market.
The common thread through these various news bits? They all involve lithium-ion technology in some form.
