Forum Weekly Review February 14

February 14th, 2009

In this weekly segment, we cover the top discussions going on in the car forums. These threads may be the most recent hot topics, or epic threads that we just wanted to dig up and feature.

If you have a suggestion for a thread to be included on the forum weekly review, e-mail it to info@beyond.ca. If you have not joined our forums, register today its free!

Publicity Stunt: Energy 101.5FM Stops Playing Chris Brown
In an attempt to capitalize on the alleged assault that took place right on the eve of the Grammy’s, a Calgary radio station has decided to stop playing all Chris Brown songs (at least for now). They claim it is because they cannot support violence against women but yet they’ll continue to play songs by artists that have lengthy criminal records. I’m sure many more stations will jump on the Boycott Chris Brown bandwagon but I think its pretty retarded, what about you?

Power Wheelchair Lady…In Traffic!
I’m really not sure how this thread has never made it onto the weekly review until today. This thread is probably the longest running thread on Beyond. Newer members may not be famiiar with it but essentially it is a “spotted thread” of the infamous power wheelchair lady who thinks her wheelchair is a motor vehicle. If shes not cruising around on Macleod Trail in the south, she’ll be rolling up to crosswalks taking out innocent ankles. If you do run into her, please say hi on our behalf and try to get some photos! Free prizes to anyone that gets her to wear a beyond lanyard or slaps a beyond sticker onto her wheelchair.

Less Rush Hour Traffic Lately?
Many forum members have noticed their morning and evening commutes have become noticeably shorter due to lower traffic volumes, especially in the deep south where commute times have dropped by up to 15 minutes. Have the hefty layoffs finally started affecting traffic on the roads? Some suggest it is due to people tightening their spending and switching to transit instead of driving but some transit riders have also noticed that transit vehicles are less crowded. Some experts have forecasted 2009 to be one of the worst years, and I guess we’ll see soon how bad it is getting.
