Ford Booth Tour – SEMA 2012

We’re wrapping up our coverage of the 2012 SEMA Show by showcasing the Ford booth. There were too many nice cars for us to cover here so we’ll just highlight a few. While I was touring the booth SpeedTV was filming a segment on the new Mustang Cobra Jet twin-turbo Concept but more on that monster a bit later.

The clean mustang you see above was a special collaboration between Ford and SEMA. Ford donated the Mustang GT to the project aimed at shining a spotlight on women working in the automotive aftermarket and encourage more women to pursue careers in the industry. The car was worked on exclusively by members of the SEMA Businesswomen’s Network (SBN).

“The SEMA Mustang Build is truly inspiring,” said Marla Moore, SBN Chair. “The SBN is honored to host this historic project. We’re now excited to unveil and share the final creation with the industry at the upcoming SEMA Show.”

After the unveiling it was auctioned off to raise funds for the SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund. The winning bid was $46,775!

Sitting front and center in the Ford booth was the 2014 Mustang Cobra Jet Twin Turbo Concept. Power details weren’t provided for the V8-TT motor but Ford says that the supercharger in the 2013 Cobra Jet required over 100hp to run. In moving to the twin turbo setup Ford chose the smallest turbos that were able to provide the airflow they needed in an effort to reduce turbo lag.

The car is still a work in progress though. Right after SEMA ended Ford engineers immediately went to work on it again to get even more performance out of it.

Here are a few more cars I snapped while working my way through the Ford booth. CGS Motorsports Taurus SHO:

There were a few Ford Fusions that were done up. I’m a fan of the new Ford Fusions with the 2.0L Ecoboost and AWD and often forget about them even though they’re a great all around sedan for Canadian winters.

The Mustang however is still the most popular vehicle that Ford makes at least if you count the cars that the most people posed in front of.

The Ford SVT Raptor is one of my favorite trucks–though I won’t lie, I’m not a real big truck guy. Just sayin’ if I were to ever buy one this would be on the short list haha.
