FCA Recalls Fiat 500e EV

Posted by: Xavier Kwan onMay 30th, 2016

FCA is recalling 16,549 Fiat 500e EVs that were manufactured between 2013 to 2016. The issue has been identified as a faulty engine management software in the vehicles. The specific problem is that the software could misread operating conditions and results in the computer shutting down the car’s engine.

Once the recall starts, FCA will get customers to bring their cars into their local dealership for a diagnosis. Technicians will resolve the issue by installing the correct software into the car’s computer to prevent the car from turning off. Currently, only U.S.-spec 500e EVs are affected by the recall.
