We’ve seen this car disguised and in action over the last month, and finally, some official details, specs and photos on the much anticipated 2014 E63 AMG S-Model have been released by Mercedes-AMG ahead of the official unveiling at the 2013 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The facelifted E-Class is a major redesign of the E platform, as sales of the current model was slipping against BMW’s new 5 series. Mercedes-Benz went back to the drawing board, and updated much more than your typical facelift.

Starting with the drivetrain, the new 4matic system in the 2014 E63 AMG sedan to rocket to 100km/h from a standstill in 3.6s, while the Estate model is slightly slower at 3.7s. The 33/67 fixed split, along with the limited slip differential provide RWD like handling capabilities, which means you can still get the car nicely sideways. The M157 5.5L V8 Twin Turbo engine has been updated to pump out an astonishing 585hp.

On the outside, the redesigned front end ditches the dual headlamps that’s been a staple feature of the E-Class in favor of a single headlight cluster. The LED Daytime Running Lights separate the bulbs within the cluster to give an illusion of a dual headlamp look. The front bumper is filled with large intake holes, and finished off with what AMG calls the A-Wing, giving it an aggressive Formula One style aerodynamic look.

The AMG RIDE CONTROL air suspension setup is retained, but tweaked to enhance driving experience, as well as to accommodate the new 4matic setup. The base alignment setup has also been tweaked, with more negative camber around all 4 corners. The package is topped off with a 14:1 direct ratio electromechanical AMG speed-sensitive power steering assist.

The interior has been completely redesigned, which now mimics the CLS63’s stunning interior. As a first for North America, the upgraded COMAND system now features the “Eyes Free” Siri integration, allowing iPhone users to let Siri do all the work without taking your eyes off the road. This includes full navigation control, web radio on Aupeo, CarFinder, Twitter, Facebook, Glympse, and MyCar functions.

The 2014 E63 AMG will be available for order this spring, with first deliveries scheduled for late summer. The car will get its world debut next week in Detroit at the 2013 NAIAS. Stay posted for more pictures when we get there. In the mean time check out the gallery below for more eye candy!
