BMW Debuts M3 DTM Champion EditionPosted by: Kenny Chan onDecember 5th, 2012
Earlier this year Bruno Spengler became the first Canadian to win the DTM Championship and in fact the first Canadian to win a major international automotive racing title since Jacques Villeneuve won the driver’s title way back in 1997. Spengler took the DTM title by winning the season finale at Hockenheim surprising himself and likely many others by piloting the BMW Motorsport team to victory, a team that has been away from the series for a couple of decades.
To celebrate their success, BMW M GmbH unveiled the BMW M3 DTM Champion Edition with a fresh set of pictures. The special edition model is available exclusively in Frozen Black metallic paint. The front lower fascia is adorned in carbon fiber while the kidney grills include a black chrome surround. Matte black wheels finish off the DTM car look, which mimics Spengler’s actual racing car down to the BMW M stripe down the center of the carbon roof and trunk.
On the inside, Spengler has signed the carbon fiber interior trim right beside the serial number. Only 54 (one for each DTM race win) of these extremely limited edition models will be built and sold around the world. Those lucky enough to get their hands on one of these will also be invited to attend the BMW M Fascination Nordschleife driver training course taught by Bruno Spengler himself. A chance to drive on the ‘ring with a Canadian DTM champ would be pretty fantastic if you ask me! Price for the DTM Champion Edition M3 will start at 99,000 Euros and production will begin early next year.
