Audi China reveals Limited Edition China Edition R8

Audi China has launched a new limited edition Audi R8 exclusively for China dubbed the Audi R8 China Edition. Available only in two colors, Malibu blue with Suzuka grey sideblades, or Suzuka grey with Malibu blue sideblades, the limited run of 80 R8s come with LED headlights, carbon fiber parts (of course!), 19″ twin spoke Y-design wheels and a carbon-matte rear spoiler.

On the inside, the lucky owners will see that each car is individually serialized on top of the aluminum shift knob from 1-99. As you may have already noticed the discrepancy, while only 80 of these beauties are going to be built they are numbered from 1 through 99 avoiding the use of the number “4” as chinese people equate that number to bad luck. Also on the shifter is “R8” followed by two chinese characters that say “exclusive”.

While it may have borrowed the carbon fiber mirrors and cannards from the R8 GT, it looks like it won’t get the same 560hp engine. The China Edition R8 gets the “regular” 511hp 5.2L V10 that rockets the car from 0-100km/h in just 3.9s. We asked Audi why they are not announcing the price, and their response was “Because China”. Alright, no maybe that didn’t happen. ;)
