2016-2017 SASC Winter Driver Training

Posted by: Kenny Chan onDecember 18th, 2016

Here is a quick video of the slalom exercise from two very different vehicles. A Mercedes-Benz CLS with all-wheel drive and a Honda Fit which is front-wheel drive. The Mercedes has 402 horsepower, while the Honda has only 117 horsepower. Both vehicles are running with winter tires but the Honda has an ace up its sleeve with a set of winter tires with studs for extra grip. In the slalom exercise the Honda was able to complete the course a full 3 seconds quicker.

The SASC Winter/Ice Driving Training is currently sold out for 2013 but there is a possibility that one more class will be added pending ice conditions on March 31st. If you’re interested or have any questions feel free to drop a comment below or check out the SASC website for more information. A big thank you to all the volunteer instructors, helpers and organizers for putting on such a great event. Also a big thank you also goes out to Spec R Motorsports for their continued support of this program and VEX Performance for being the sponsor of this event. For those that are unaware, SASC is a non-profit organization run by a dedicated group of volunteers. Their goal with the winter driving training is to pass on their experience and driving skills to everyone so they can challenge the grip on roads during ice and snow conditions.

Check out some of the photos we took during the event below.
