What do you do when one of your vehicles is succesful? Make it bigger of course! With the 5 passenger Transit Connect doing very well Ford is launching a bigger model for 2014 that offers optional third row seating. They showed off a pair of the new 3 row 7-seater versions at the Los Angeles Auto Show along with the 5-seater version. The newer front end design with the updated headlights and sleeker roofline makes the new Transit Connect more family friendly as it looks a lot less like a cargo/fleet vehicle.

“The all-new Transit Connect Wagon will expand the personal-use audience for this versatile nameplate by offering up to seven-passenger capacity across three rows of seating in a fully trimmed interior,” said Hau Thai-Tang, Ford vice president of Global Engineering, Global Product Development. “It has an extensive selection of comfort, convenience and connectivity options, and a full complement of safety features – making it a modern, family-friendly alternative to oversized minivans.”

The Transit Connect Wagon will be offered in two different wheelbase lengths in five and seven-passenger configurations in XL, XLT and Titanium serious levels. A standard 2.5L 4 cyclinder will be offered along with an optional 1.6L ecoboost engine estimated to provide an impressive 7.8L/100km (30mpg).
